Title: My first JAMMA cab - can't wait to collect it but need help urgently!

I've just purchased the above cabinet, fully working from eBay for £120 :)  Picking it up Sunday...

I have to take it upstairs to my games room and it is too deep to fit around the corner at the bottom of my staircase and at the top as it stands.  So i'll probably need to dismantle it, at least remove the side panels and control panel, so I can turn it round the corner.

How easy is this to do, is it just likely to be bolted/screwed together or have i made a foolish purchase  :-\  If need be I'll have to take it right apart!

Thanks in advance.

Sean

It doesn't look very wide. Are you sure you can't place it on a hand truck (use straps!), tilt it back, and just roll it in?

I don't see what good removing the control panel will do, since the sides of the cabinet extend out the same distance.

It's the depth (from the back to the point where the control/side panels stick out) thats the problem, because I can pull it back through the door way but need to turn it on the spot almost to put it on the bottom of the stairs.  Hard to explain really but I just need to know how hard it is to remove the sides and control panel?

I'm by no means an expert on this, and hopefully someone has seen that specific cab and knows, but not necessarily easy.  It could be put together in such a way that you have to go through the sideart to undo the sides...which wouldn't be good.  I don't think taking the sides off will necessarily be possible.

What should be easy is removing the CP.  I take it your going to have space to work at the bottom of the steps?  Maybe take off the CP then pivot it around the wall/railing at the bottom of the steps to get it into place to bring it up the steps.  Might mean bringing the cab up the steps face first... but it might work.

Do you have a crane and a big window upstairs?

Unfortunately, I don't think taking it apart will be easy.  It is not likely "bolted" together.  Its probably glued and possibly nailed together.  To remove the sides, would mean taking the entire thing apart and rebuilding.  And at that point, building one from scratch would be a better idea (my opinion).

Do you have a wife that would be opposed to an arcade machine in the kitchen?

In any case, good luck.  It looks like a nice machine to start working on.  I'd be very excited about it as well.

Looks based on the "Silverline" design big in europe. Had one myself. You will damage it trying to take the sides off. Its carriage bolted in 3 places and PVA glued along the base back and monitor mounts.  It is however a great cab to convert.

... and don't attempt to move it by yourself.
