I have an Omega Race that I'm converting and the CP is metal. It's shaped oddly, almost an S, so I was considering doing a set of metal swappable CPs so that I didn't have to mod the cabinet much.
Pic of CP Attached...
The back lip holds back the glass bezel, so that's necessary. The panel slides down into the cab so there's about a 1/2 inch of wood above the CP, but there's a metal 'shelf' pieces in the cab to hold it up on each side. I can route out those squares or chisel them out on the sides of a wood CP, but wanted to determine if the metal CP would even be possible.
(Also, I have a drill press, so I should be able to cut holes in the metal myself.)
Also open to ideas on making a wood CP for this...or if you think hardboard would be 'stiff' enough...

*bump* No one? Where have others gotten metal CPs? Or is it all local?

most are done locally. take yours to a local metal working shop. they should be able to do it easily.

Hehe, ok...thanks. Guess I need to find a local metal shop.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that's not a metal worker on this forum :).
