Getting ready to build a cabinet but I would rather not go through the hassel of using/installing an entire coin door. However of course I still like the look of it.
My question is... is it possible to only buy a coin door faceplate and not all the guts?
Any links out there for one?
Thanks

Something like the Unreal Coin Door (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=89&products_id=308) by Groovy Game Gear?

I was thinking the same thing until I got a good deal from thenasty for the full deal. I would say get the full thing. There is no real hassle with it. The biggest hassle is mounting the front plate, the rest just snaps on to the back of it. Wiring is also easy (just like any other switch). Even if you dont wire the thing to accept coins, you get to hear the mechanism and clink when you do put a coin in it, and it is a very nostalgic and satisfying feeling.

Or just go with the old school coin slots. They are really easy and only 20 bucks (the same as the unreal) and look even better than the late-eighties black doors.

Happ sells a coin door that is non-functioning. It's just there for looks.

You could just get a complete door and not wire it up. What kind are you looking for?

Well I guess the problem is how expensive a real coin door costs??
Lots right?

A coin door is a drop in the bucket compared to the overall cost. If you want one, get one - you will be happier in the long run. The Small Single Coin Door is about $65 if I remember correctly and it's great for a home made cab or MAME job.

ebay it. You can get one for cheap and if it is in decent condition touch up paint will run less than ten dollars. In total my over-under cost me about $35 and has all metal coin mechs
-
Ebay it and look for local pickup (sort by distance, nearest first).... will save you on shipping
I did that and found one for $1
Later I ended up getting some for free w/ a free cab I got from another guy, so they're
not exactly like gold...
(but you can't have mine :)
btw, search for
"coin door" not coin mech, and you will get better results.
I even got better results looking for "coin acceptor"

Hey Blanka, where can I get one of those? I got a DK cocktail about a month ago, and most of the coin mech was missing (as well as the little half loop to catch the coin on the coin return). I believe the part number is KWM 740.

i just found a 2 player over under coin door flaceplate with brackets (incase i want to put coin mechs in later) from Austin amusements here is australia for AUD$70 free shiping which is damn good considering there are no full or just face plate over under doors here in australia anywhere but there (not even the bay).
so i think thats a pretty sweet deal. do people think i should get it?
AUD$70 = USD$55

I had this one:

But in that case you might need to transfer 10 euro extra, and ask him to include ten 1 euro coins ;D
