Title: CRT TV Colour Problem
Post by: m7cky on September 28, 2008, 05:35:26 pm
Got a 29" toshiba CRT TV in the garage that I was going to use in a cab.
Turned it on today to play a bit of Virtua fighter on the dreamcast & the pictues gone all weird.
Basically, the background (i.e when there is no signal coming through the scart, or the bars at the top & bottom of the screen) is red ! It should be black! There is also a red tinge to the displayed picture. I've searched everywhere for a possible solution, the best one being to enter the engineers menu & mess about with the colour cut off settings. But the TV was ok a couple of weeks ago so i'm wondering if it could be a failed part? Also there seems to be some red scan lines burnt into the picture & again, they weren't there a couple of weeks ago (I think).
The TV's not really worth much, but it fits perfect in the cab I have for it, & large screen 4:3 CRT's are pretty hard to come by round my way so would like to fix it! :-)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Lots of things could be wrong with it.  Red drive transistor on the neckboard could have died.  Red gun in the tube could be shorted on always.  I'd check the transistor first.
