Not really of course, but suppose if it would exist ?
I've always wondered why Atari decided to make the cockpit side-art blue, instead of the beautiful (and much more appropriate) shiny black that's used on the upright.
The only reason I can think of is that people might overlook a black cockpit in a darkish arcade and walk into them, getting themselves hurt and consequently large claims for Atari......
Anyway, some recent development made me dream about a SW cockpit with that weird blue stuff removed.
I've clumsily changed a picture to give a first impression. Imagine the shiny looking upright black on this instead:

What do you guys think. The more I look at it and think about how it would look for real, the more excited I get about it.
The whole thing looks much more "threatening" compared to the "Teletubby" blue......
I know, a purist like me should stick to the blue, but if it would be possible to get it like this, would you do it ?

That would be the only problem I would see. Id be the one to do it too. Not to mention If I cant see its there, I can't put my money in it to play. A Pac Man machine in a jet black arcade can still be immediately recognized by its FLUORESCENT yellow sides and orange T molding. Black Star Wars does look pretty sharp though. Definitely more menacing.

The Teletubbies are still fresh enough in my mind that even Darth Vader himself couldn't be more threatening ....

You did a good photoshop job, but I still prefer the blue version. The black "framework" really stands out with the blue, something completely lost by your black version.

Yes that did cross my mind too. Maybe it would need some edge on the artwork itself just like the upright to prevent that.

I really prefer the blue too. Too many cabs are black on black on black and show no imagination or style.

Certainly the black as you've done looks good. That retro remake someone did recently was all black, but maybe it was the more modern graphics or/and the paint used, I didn't like it.
Come on.....Teletubbies was just so comforting.

I think figures showed that more elderly people watch the Teletubbies than children, which figures of course.
The good news is that a black side-art cockpit could become a reality in the not too distant future. And no, it won't be inkjetted.
