Title: loss of all color but still have picture
Post by: gatordad on September 27, 2008, 11:31:28 pm
Alright I'm confused what would cause this. I have swaped 2 different boards so it's definitely monitor related. I give the cab a shake and color comes back after the jiggle. connection issue or something else.
It's a WG u5000

First check for bad solder joints. Then check resistor R811 on the main board. It is supposed to be 100k resistance.

hmmm, r811 is on the abl line ....
if open , i'd think the pic would be dim/ washed out rather than "no color" .
also check c805, c808 ( 2.2uF/200v ) and c810 (10uF/63v)

That does happen, but a lot of the time you get a dim B/W picture when R811 goes.
