As a few of you know from a recent thread, I'm an amateur astronomer, love taking astro-pics with my scope and astrocam. Fun hobby.
But I have OTHER hobbies, as I'm sure you do too. One of those other hobbies, is in "starring" in several extremely low budget short movies, with most themed via horror flicks. Many of these were done years ago, back in the early to mid 90's. Keep in mind, this was done before sites like youtube made doing a movie something of a novelty, and it was done mostly with a camcorder/vcr for editing. Aside from having fun (which we succeeded), one of the main purpose was to help a friend get some practice in to get into the movie industry (still an ongoing process eheh). Yep, the real star of these was my friend Brett, who was responsible for the camera work, editing, directing, most of the writing, etc.
note: some of these have some adult language or gestures. A few of these were also unreleased and were spiced up edit wise with new editing toys available nowadays.
Evilman Director's Cut (horror - older version available on youtube but this version is better):
http://www.vimeo.com/1741191 (http://www.vimeo.com/1741191)
Dollyville (comedy/horror):

Booniesville (comedy):

Evilshit (horror):

Finally, I took a stab and created my own short story, a small comedy vignette that laughs a bit at life's beautiful moments. This will actually be a series:
Finger Moments vol 1 (attention span friendly, less than 2 minutes long! :) :) :) ):

Enjoy (I hope!). If you do, please do share with your friends these links. If you don't, share them anyway and let them know what a dufus this guy on the byoac boards is in a "you gotta see how bad this is yourself", I'm not too proud eheh. Also whether good or bad, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.
So what are your other hobbies? :)

Dollyville was awesome, gonna watch more later
-
Mostly playing guitar (19 years) and I have a very large movie and video game collection.
I've been working on several film scripts for many years that I can never seem to finish. I jot down any ideas I have, or scenes I'd like to see on film, but I've never come close to completing a screenplay.
-
I have a toddler in the house. Does that qualify as a hobby? ;D
-
No Shardian, that's too RL to be a hobby. When they grow up, it's not a hobby either, it's stress!

Yeah, but right now she thinks I am cool, and I invest time into making her do funny stuff. Currently, she randomly chants "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" ( the wife is sooo jealous). She also can do the Dr. Evil laugh, do the 'up high, down low, thanks for cleaning my toilet bowl' joke, and many other things. If that isn't a hobby, I don't know what is.

Give it time...

No kidding :). I'm not dissing you Shardian, having kids is the best thing that's ever happened to me, but, well I think Mountain said it best. :)

I drink a lot.
I was gonna say that, instead, an obscure reference....
"Chinese calligraphy, my Theses 2, Kangaroo Anatomy, Toe Photography, Booger sculpture and masturbation. Well, maybe not masturbation but give me a break it's the only thing I'm good at. "

If you can only be good at one thing, make sure it is something you enjoy a lot... >:D

Well, doesn't help if one's good at sex but no one knows it. It's like being an unknown acting talent.

Is this (arcades) a HOBBY?
I thought it was a lifestyle..
-
I'm slowly learning guitar, i dabble in writing (have had several pieces published at the local newspaper level) and I am into home-brewing. Going to work on a batch of mead before too long.
-
I play bridge.
If going broke is a hobby I will be doing that soon, my daughter will in college next fall and my son will follow in just a couple more years. The wife contributes a lot to that hobby even now.
-
Never thought of cards, so I guess Texas Hold 'em Poker is also one of my hobbies.
-
I'm into portable high end audio (http://www.head-fi.org) and I collect DE razors, brushes and the like (http://www.badgerandblade.com). The people on those forums are almost as nice as here :D I keep a blog (http://singapoera.blogspot.com/) and do a lot of presentations in the region on anti money laundering and compliance. You may consider those hobbies as well because I'm not getting paid for that
-
I have over three hundred unique pez dispensers and I read a lot. I would say I collect internet porn, except once or twice a year I see how much space is being used and I purge the entire collection and start again from scratch. ;D
-
Ive been into analog audio for a while. Nothing too fancy turntable wise (whatever the $120 Sony is at Best Buy) but Im slowing building my collection of the 70s and 80s greatest bands. I have everything RUSH put out on LP plus 30 or so others mixed in.
Now Ive started looking at analog video. I found a Mitsubishi M-7010 LaserDisc player at a garage sale for 5 bucks with Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and some other movie. The player needs a gear alignment, but it just seems to me like a neat thing to have for 5 bucks.
*waits for the analog flaming*

Paper modeling (card modeling). I thought this was kinda ghey until I tried it. It's really addicting! The amazing thing is that all the good models are freely available for download off the internet. My favorite site is the Yamaha site:
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/ultra/index.html
Yep, you too can make that model. Just print it out, cut apart, and glue together.

Mead suggests other hobbies. Fanatasy, role playing, SCA. Maybe not. Maybe you're an egiptian historian. Just wondering.

I thought collecting razors was the most original hobby I'd heard of until I read this one.
That's actually really cool looking. It appeals to the part of me that makes interested in model building, RC cars, model trains; I suppose if I reached far enough it's what appeals to me about my career in architectures. I like to examine things and situations in microcosm.
My other hobbies? Well actually since I built my mame cab, I've been kind of out of this hobby.
The places where my money gets sunk into frivolous wastes of time are:
Downhill Skiing - I teach at the local hill to supplement the cost
RC Car racing
3d modelling
And as above, these have all been preceeded by the intersts of my two year old. I find myself playing with brio trains, soccer balls, and I'm thinking of starting the "Adult Little Tykes" basketball league.
-
I'm a bowler... currently in a Monday night league. My team did pretty well last season, ended up taking 3rd (out of 24 teams).
Next year when we buy a house (with a 3 car garage), I'm going to buy an old car and start autocross racing. Something I've been wanting to do for a lonnnng time now.
-
My hobbies all seem to relate to the arcade lifestyle:
- Archeology - digging through piles of stuff looking for the one part I need
- Interior Design - figuring out how to fit that "couldn't-leave-it-there" cab into the gameroom
- Linguistics - creating entirely new languages when a machine goes on the fritz
- Economics - trying to figure out how to pay for it all

I was the one with little hair.... wait that doesn't help. :) Yeah, the one without the goatee, the one who seems to have drank way too much coffee (talks fast). Glad you liked it. If we ever do a sequel, I'm not the same size anymore, lost about 100 pounds so I'll be easier to spot.
-
My family is my #1 hobby.
I also work out every morning (lifting and running) ... but it's hard to call something you don't enjoy a hobby. Well, I enjoy the effects of being in shape and I like how I feel AFTER I'm finished but during.... ugh.

you've lost 100 pounds?!?! well done. i'm trying to gain 50. we coulda done a deal ;D
-
Playing and recording music on my Mac using Logic Pro. Although now that I have a one year old son, I don't get to record very often any longer. I have a good ten song ideas just waiting to be molded into complete songs but can't find the time to work on them. I think it might be time to send the wife and little boy to Arizona to visit her relatives. :)

Well, I did say I lost it. I believe I last saw the weight at either Burger King or McDonalds. If you go look there real hard, you might find it. :) :burgerking:

I built a 27 tonne boat (http://www.thedawnmist.co.uk) and I restore and drive cars. I have a '66 MGB, a '72 VW and here's a pic of my '34 Austin 10/4:

i've kinda let my hobbies go. whenever a thread like this pops up, i used to mention building model boats and planes, but really i haven't done that in years...
-
I enjoy fly fishing, though I've been spending too much time on the video-game-related hobbies and not enough time tying flies lately.
-
I suppose when I answered this I was thinking about what I enjoy doing.. I seem to spend most of my time doing DIY around the house, which really screws any chance of doing something fun like working on my cab. I hate DIY :(
-
RC Helicopters, although, more building them than flying them :(
Fencing (with sabre's, not posts and pickets :) ), woodworking, various DIY projects, experimenting with random steampunk gizmo's (I've built two steampunked nerf guns in practice rounds for converting a couple light guns for my cab) and programming, although I do that for work too, so I suppose it might not count
-
well i did join a crip gang in my youth but when i found out that the bloods had a better 401k package i jumped ship. I got laid off from that though. Usually im tying to keep my kids inline. I like to lift wieghts and act like a cage fighter even though im soggy and the 14 year ol kid next door could hand me my rear end. I like this forum

I have been to ham radio for 28 years. (VE6SN)
