ok, so along, long time ago i started a mame project. its 99% finished and just got a bit of touching up to do but im now thinking of changing the x-arcade stick and make my own. i said this to the missus and she just looked at me funny as im always doing something to it, but she was the one who said that she would like it in the front room!

That's a really awesome cabinet!
-
That is a sweet conversion. But is that shoe doing one of those comedy "waa. waa. waa . waaaa."'s in picture #1

I like the style. But I gotta say that monitor is WAY too tiny and close to the controls.
Otherwise I dig it.

yea i see what you mean but it is a small cab compaired to the normal size cabs. its a 17"tft and it only just fitted. the cab is less than 2ft deep. ;)

good job.
How's the stability on that thing?

the stability is fine. it ways a tonne so it doesn't move! which is a bad thing as i live in a flat and it was a nighmare to get up the stairs

Thats great.. love the originality :applaud:

the Xarcade needs redone. you could keep the guts but its breaks up the flow of the cab. I think it woulda looked awesome if you kept the red AND the cage part.

yea i agree. i do want to get shot or the x-arcade so might start that soon. i also agree that the red would be nice but the room its in is very green, hence the green t-molding. what about the red for a green or do you think that would be to much?

The rest of the cab is already painted white & green. I'd just stick with that.

let me amend my previous statement; I think the red and black would have looked awesome (very NeoGeo-ish) but the end result you have now is very nice; cutting a new CP piece or covering the existing one to make it match would be the final touch.
Also, whats the deal with 2 sets of start buttons?

Ah, i see. I'm working on the new cp at the moment.
as for the buttons, there is only one set of player buttons. the other to are just blank white buttons. one for coins and the other to go back to the main menu to select another game.

Nice use of the stand, I like it :applaud:
-
What was that stand from? I think this is a very novel approach to building a cab.

its an old mobile phone stand. i removed the top part and was left with what you see in the picture.
