What is the best kind of black paint to use to paint a bezel? I heard that both spray paint and latex paint are good options, but which is better? Is there a particular brand that anybody recommends? Any considerations regarding a specific kind of masking tape? Thanks for any advice in advance :)

I just used a .99cent can of flat black and it looks great.

If your useing pexi-glass get some krylon fusion spray paint it chemiclay bonds to the plastic and looks great. Use regular painters tape just dont get the cheap kind it will bleed through no matter what paint you use. :)

Use the 3M blue painters tape. The wider the better. If using plexi, make sure you mask off the center with newspaper as well. No matter how careful you are, you will get paint speckles from the spray can onto the center if you DON'T cover the center, and it will be amplified with the monitor underneath and will highly visible.

Not to hijack the thread, but is painting the glass more desireable than Tailgunner's $2 bezel (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=17175)?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean about the newspaper. I plan on covering the entire center of the bezel with the painters tape. Are you saying to put newspaper on top of that, as well? Or were you saying to use newspaper if I covered just the outer edges of the monitor part of the bezel with tape (and not the center part)? As always, thanks

Tape down your outline edges and then tape down some paper to cover the rest of the larger center area.
Using tape to cover the entire area is just a waste of tape.

I have used Rustoleum oil base and I am very pleased with the results.

If its plexi/lexan you can get great results from R/C car body paint from Pactra. Never krinkles or does any crazy stuff paints not specifically made for plastic can do and comes out looking super glossy through the plastic.
