Does anyone make a 25" monitor that does 15-31 Khz? All the empty cabs I'm finding have 25" monitors installed. Is it possible to shoehorn a 27" monitor into a Jamma cab that takes a 25"?

I don't think that Makvision is digital, which means it won't remember any of my screen settings. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
only ever seen a few tri sync digital chassis,i think the d9400,weiya 29 series and the nanao 31 series
what are you trying to achieve with this chassis??
-
I want to use it with an ArcadeVGA2 and do authentic resolutions and refresh rates with MAME. That means 15 Khz with older games, 25 Khz for games like Paperboy, and VGA for some PC games.
-
o.k yes i see what you want,i am not sure of any 25" digital tri sync on the market
we class 27" as 29" in europe(dunno why but something to do with the visible screen)
-
try talking with rick at niemandisplays
http://www.niemandisplays.com/nieman_video_displays_007.htm
not sure if it is digital but maybe he can point you in the right direction

Excellent! I think I may give it a try as well. Thanks TOK! :)

Just noticed a new monitor over at Billabs site. It's the BL25C90T, a 25" CGA-EGA-VGA autosync monitor.
http://www.billabs.com/crts.htm
Looks like a good solution for those who don't want to force a 27" monitor into a cabinet that holds a 25".
-
I'm pretty sure that's not digital either. Meaning you will have to manually adjust your screen geometry settings every time you change resolutions. To my knowledge, there is not a single 25" digital multisync on the market.

I'm waiting for Billabs to get back with me about whether it's digital or not. I certainly hope it is.

judging from the spec(it has a recall function) the 90t monitor looks like a digital

I thought the same thing. I called them and talked to some dude there and he seemed confused by my question. Plus he had a foreign accent so I couldn't really understand him that well. I think he told me it was analog but I'm not so sure he knew what I was talking about. If somebody else wants to give it a try feel free.
-
send them an email,an analogue monitor does not have a recall option
ask for a manual-this will prove it one way or another
if i could see the chassis i would be able to tell, digital chassis have a button or a panel of buttons-analogue chassis have pots
-
I've e-mailed them but haven't gotten anything back.
They do have a PDF for the specifications of their 27" monitors. In the PDF it doesn't mention the recall for the BL27C90T so I'm thinking that the BL25C90T is probably analog.

If true, then I guess we'll never see a digital 25" tri-mode. :(
-
the right hand side one has the recall facility and also notice how it goes to 38khz-that makes me believe this is a weiya 2929 monitor just repackaged and as such is a digital quad sync
-
My understanding is the quad or Q models (which ARE digital) are no longer available. Notice that it has says it has an "OSD" in the right columns and the tri-sync does not.
I'm certain someone here reported that the new Billabs tri-sync is analog, but I can't seem to find it.
-
I may end up getting stuck with the Wells Gardner 9800, seeing as it's the only multisync that will do 15-31khz. I'm going to call Billabs tomorrow and see if they still have any of their BL27CB0P monitors (http://www.billabs.com/bl27cb0p.htm) laying around or if they've sold them all. If they do I'll drive up there and grab it since I live in Georgia.
-
There is also the D9400. Someone around here mentioned that the D9800 is basically the same as the D9400 but it's made in China and is $50 cheaper.

I'm wary of Wells Gardner monitors after reading about all the problems they have been having in the thread stickied at the top.
A question for anybody that might know...do the analog monitors lose the screen settings when they lose power or when the resolution changes? If it's only when they lose power, could I just hook it to a UPS and leave it turned on all the time so it doesn't lose the settings?

I recently posted a thread on Billabs' status.
-
Very much a newbie here. I recently bought a mame setup from a guy and it has an ultimarc video card and a U2000 monitor with some issues. The cabinet is fiberglass from some sort of Blockbuster Video Block Party machine that took cartridges. It has a metal frame so I'm stuck with a 25" screen. I recently put a makvision 24.8 multisync in my Golden Tee and I am pleased with it.
My question is this, I know it's analog but so what? What does it entail to change from CGA games to windows to computer games etc...? Also it is 640 x 480 so what am I loosing by not having 800 x 600 like some digital 27" monitors. I've looked and searched on here but I work 6 days a week, 10 to 12 hours a day for the railroad so I don't have unlimited time to read every thread on this great forum.
Thanks a lot guys and girls.
-
First off, I'd like to see the 'cab'. Second, if your Mak has a VGA input, you could play with it and see the difference.
-
Well here's a link to pics of the cabinet. It needs a faster processor and more ram. Looks good with mame games but windows files look horrible, I can barely read them like when I'm trying to pick a game in Nestopia. MAME file names look great, but windows files and Nestopia are illegible. It does have an arcadeVGA installed from Ultimarc. Is there a setting I should tweak?

Thanks.

Are you looking for something like this? (http://www.hantarex.be/BtoB/products/applications/video-games-monitors/polostar.htm)
-
Yes that looks like what I want as it has automatic switching. My question is on analog tri-sync monitors, does anything have to be manually adjusted when the computer runs Mame at CGA or windows at VGA etc.
Thanks.

As stated before, yes.
-
yes with analogue tri syncs you need to mess with a few adjustments when swap res,but tbh if you put the adjustment boards in the cp area and don't swap res that often then it ain't no big deal
hantarex do not make crt anymore and only have very little stock left.

I e-mailed Betson about the dimensions of their 27" multisync. After a few e-mail exchanges we determined that it would be too big for my cabinet. She did mention that they have a 24.8" multisync, model number 44-4024-00. I asked her if it was digital and she said it was. Didn't someone here buy their 24.8" multisync and determine it was just the Billabs 24.8" analog tri-sync?
-
Looks like the exact same trisync as billabs:

I figured that was the case. Looks like a 25" digital multisync is about as elusive as bigfoot.
-
Todd, if they say it's digital then they have to back up their product, else you can get a full refund. Make sure it's in writing, though, or in the manual that comes with it.
ic: neat. Sort of a candied showcase cabinet. I think Windows looks fine on that monitor in the pics you got there. 640x480 might do for PC games, but I think you need at least XGA for them.
