Title: Coin door wires help. Were to splice into before I start
Post by: ctozzi on September 15, 2008, 12:32:55 pm
So I want the authentic feel and the coin door needs to be lit up for that. Here are some pictures. The cable coming from the power supply in the connector in my fingers. My question is do i match up the yellow wires on both bulbs to the yellow on the connector, and the yellow w/white on both bulbs to the yellow w/white on the connector ? Then lastly how do I ground this whole thing ?
The last photo is the other end of the wire running from the power supply to the coin door(that I need to splice)
BTW it a Mortal Kombat 1 Dedicated cabinet

Your getting the power from the isolation transformer, not the power supply.  Its 12v AC not DC. Connect yellow to yellow and y/w to y/w.  Then run a ground wire from that post on the isolation transformer block to the coin door itself.

He is referring to the screw with the green ground wires on your transformer assembly. Run a wire from this screw to the metal of your coin door to ensure it is grounded to the rest of the cabinet ground. You just need to make sure the wire wraps around a screw, or similar ground "post" on the coin door.

Also, I know it sounds trivial, but make sure you swap out the light bulbs with new ones.  There no sense in trying to get them to light if the bulbs are bad.  :)
