Yup, my first cab project using a salvaged Kodak Picture Maker Cabinet. Cab is in fair conditions and has lots of amenities such as doors and sliding trays. The "Marquee" at the top even slides up and reveals another sliding drawer. I'll document my progress on making this a somewhat playable cabinet. I'm not taking this very seriously though just for practice to see what entails to be making a real cab...

It's not a CrapMAME contender. It's called making due with what you've got. If this is your only option to stand and play games, so be it.

Like I said, I'm not taking this very seriously. In fact the cabinet is too small for a tall guy like me so most likely I'll use it as a sitdown. It's more to the tune of experimenting and have fun, not to have something done "right"...

As long as you're having fun, who cares what anyone else thinks?

thats a sweet joystick.

The reason Crapmame exists as a website, is because there is an ugly nerd
with a Tiny wiener who cant hook up with woman, and has nothing better to do than
to take his anger out on others who have much larger wieners, and who can score
with the ladies.
Nothing wrong with being an ugly nerd, or having a tiny winky. However...
the behavior presented will never improve things.

This one?
Edit:
I see you're on it ;D
That dumbell-mame is kind of weird. I can follow Butt-head in his decision on that!

I saw Rite Air thew one of this out by me. I was thinking of picking it up but :notworthy:
-
Oh god... I worked on some of the software that was in that beast. :laugh2:

You can believe this -- Xiaou2 is the authority when it comes to ugly nerd weiners ...

Some of you are so joyless. This guy is making a cabinet out of a Kodak photo booth. That's ridiculous. And it's hilarious. And the original poster knows it. Lighten up and smile a little. It's healthy.

The only thing of potential value in one of those things is the touchscreen... which he seems to have lost anyway. ;D God was that 15 pounds of crap stuffed into a 12 pound cabinet. The hardware was awful and they were less reliable than a construction estimate.

The reliability had nothing to do with the software right? ;)

The software was actually pretty simple. The failures were usually in the printer and scanner. The printers were especially prone to heating element failures. They didn't spec in software detection of those so the kiosk would think it was fine and try to print anyway - spitting out a print with the second and third layers of the CMYK coming out as weird static clingwrap looking film.

What a small world, I work for RiteAid too. These must be the old stations, that are dropping in new ones with good data lines to do similar print from home features that CVS offers.
Just weird seeing one here

Definitely a conversation piece! Would be kinda neat if you could retain some of the photo scanning/printing abilities. I think we had a couple threads about the idea of using something like this. One was a photo machine along the same lines as yours, the other was using a Wal Mart hiring center. Guess this could be one down, the other to go...
EDIT: Shouldn't this be in project announcements? Just wondering...

The scanner isn't there anymore. If they stripped the scanner odds are good they stripped the printer too. It may be unreliable in commercial use but it's still a pricey piece of hardware.

Shows how much i pay attention. I didn't even realize it was from Rite Aid... :-[

You wont need to save high scores, just print them out. :dunno
