I've been tinkering around with Mala for about a week now and i'm almost ready to install it onto my 3 sided cocktail table. I've got the gameslists all sorted for both upright and vertical games and I'm almost good to go.
The one thing i'm still not quite happy about is the finishing touches on the RetroGUI layout. I'm loving the look of this layout but I just cant get it to work properly.
I've setup the folder and mala settings as per the readme by Nexus so the layout looks and works okay, however the trouble is the definable buttons just dont come up.
If I go back to the Mala Options -> GUI -> Layout and turn off the 'auto layout switch' and 'use layout names from directory' the layout goes blank but I can then see the buttons :dizzy:
I've added screenshots to show you what i mean.
I've even tried editing the layout in the layout editor to bring the definable objects to the front, however that didnt seem to fix it .
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong, or how to fix this? :dunno

I think part of the problem may be that you're using my hacked up cocktail retrogui layout!
My setup was only for vertical orientation, and it looks to me like you've got some problems when it's in horizontal. Since I never flip to that orientation, it wasn't required to ever get it to work.
Not really knowing how that layout worked, I did a pretty deep hack job in trying to get the cocktail machine to show up properly, and had to modify the background image to make it look right.
You should prolly install the released retroGUI for starters and only after you get the buttons working then try and do the cocktail image like I did.

Hey NOP,
Yeah I've tried reverting back to the old layout to see if that will fix things.
When i do a clean uncompression of the retro gui file and set that folder as the layout link n mala, i still get the same issues. :dunno
OK i've now worked it out.
When i uncompress the RetroGUI file and then copy and paste the 'buttons', 'controls' and 'players' folders into the 'mame' folder -> then it all works ok! ;D

Just to also add, i noticed the snapshots werent coming up on the vertical menu so i turned them back on in the layout editor.
Now that its all working perfectly, i've attached the files for others to use ;D
