when I exit(quit)a game with "exit hook" or through the stella GUI it makes Mala disappear(*EDIT it actually just moved the layout off screen), it is still running but I can only see my desktop
any Ideas?
I have to ctr alt delete out and restart Mala to get back in, so weird
I have zsnes running and it works fine

Edit: Sorry I was too stupid to see that you said you had already tried it through the Stella GUI.
With Mala or any front end for that matter, it is always best to re-configure the emulator to use the key you want to quit the emulator. You only want to use the exit hook if the emulator does not have a way to reconfigure the exit key.
With that said, I would not use the Exit Hook in Mala for Stella. Just start Stella up manually (not using Mala). Then goto:
Options>Input Settings>Emul Events>Quit>Map
...Then choose the key you want to use to quit (ESC or whatever....)

Actually I tried that first
still same result

It works great for me. There must be some other issue going on.

When you Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get out, is Stella running in the background and you have to end that?

OK update here
I changed the screen resolution in Stella and now I get my Mala layout back, BUT the layout is all moved around?
It's defiantly a resolution or refresh problem
getting closer to fixing it anyway
-
OK
I adjusted the screen resolution in stella to match my screen resolution in Mala and now it work
Except that stella is now not fullscreen
I've tried Multisync
still nothing
any Idea of how to get a larger version of stella without losing my layout in Mala?

I had the same problem with Stella -- Don't know if you've tried this or not, but it worked for me...
MaLa > GUI > Game Start/Quit > Reorder layout after game quit <--- Should be enabled (checked)
** Edit **
I just checked my config and realized I have res set in the Stella cmd line which would affect the display, NOT reordering as mentioned above (I think...)
My cmd in MaLa has -fullscreen 1 -fullres 1024x768 -video gl
I'm using an LCD with MaLa at 1024 so I had to set the res of Stella at 1024 to fix the layout shifting problem.
-
I Finally got stella to work by setting the resolution in stella to match mala and that seemed to work now I'm having the same problem with project64
I set the resolution in there and it shifts the layout in mala even thought the resolution for full screen is the same :banghead:
-
ok this too is a resolution problem
in project64 1.7 in the graphics config menu there is something called a glide wrapper that has to be set to the same resolution as mala and bingo it now this works too! ;D
