Title: Let's Play "Identify My Screenburn"!!
Post by: bboysnj on September 09, 2008, 10:56:23 pm
It's quite dim, therefore acceptable.  Yet curious.

"Your Mission
Rescue and Return
Hostages"

...Choplifter?  NFC.  Thoughts?   :D

Choplifter flashes:

---------------------
Your Mission
Rescue Hostages
---------------------

In the center of the screen during the attract mode. Are you sure yours has "and return" in there?

This link (http://emustatus.rainemu.com/games/clifter.htm) tries to open a pop-up, so beware. But it has a screen shot of Choplifter.

Interesting. The version I looked at didn't have the "and return" part.

Yeah, I saw that in your link. They must have made different versions, or maybe a bootleg or something. It looks like the OP's screen burn was indeed from Choplifter.

The one without the words seems to be in a lower resolution.  Perhaps a screenshot of a home cart?

It's also been listed as a bootleg.

No, it's arcade; I just cropped it to show the relevant part and reduce file size.

Bingo!  Ya'll nailed it!

Man...my poor Frankenstein must have had a heck of a life...

When I picked her up, she was a fugly "Captain America and the Avengers" --- her build gave her away as a Midway classic -- either Moon Patrol or Bubbles -- and now I learn that, the monitor at least, was a Choplifter.  Crazy life!

Here's an old shot, with my wife, who LOVES the machine!

I think you mean a Williams classic :) I've got an old Robotron cab that was converted to something, (X-men?) then Final Fight. It was gutted when I got it (still had the FF board and marquee), and it looks similar to yours (the side panels go straight to the floor under the CP, rather than tapering back to be even with the front)

Oh SCHNAPP!  Yeah man, I did mean Williams.  Midway? What was I thinking. lol

Um...yeah....my side panels are like that too...**sigh**  Kinda depressing knowing it once had life as a dedicated bad-arse cab.  I love her new life, but dang.
