Title: My First Build
Post by: moogle33 on September 09, 2008, 04:43:18 pm
Hello everybody

After years of playing puzzle bobble and super pang on mame I decided to build my own mame cabinet.

I recently bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280251574827&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280251574827&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018) this off ebay.

I have an old computer that I have installed freedos and dmame and installed it in the cabinet.

So far I have cut up a VGA cable and connected it to the jamma connector.

It plays jamma cartridges fine, but when I connect the PC up and run "dmame spang -monitor arcade" the image is shifted completly to the right, so much so that half the image is cut off the side and is unplayable.

I have tried to turn all the dials on the arcade monitor with the following effects

On the monitor main board

focus (facing the back)
Brightness (facing the back)
unknown, doesnt do anything (facing the side)
unknown, doesnt do anything (facing the side)

On the back of the tube
red
green
blue
unknown, doesnt do anything
unknown, doesnt do anything

On the monitor I found a sticker with this on:

POLO 25 (FS)

CH.F. 63200811

SN 00984

Does anybody know how to adjust the monitor to the left? or maybe tell mame to move over, ive tried -centerx8 -centerx-8 but they dont seem to do anything.

There should be a pot, or if it has a remote a funtion, for horiontal placement. Just like your PC CRT does. However, you might consider using Advancemame, as it will more automatically center the picture. Not always perfectly, but it's pretty good.
