Hi, I'm having this error with an electronic coin mech that I got from ultimarc and I feel that it doesn't make any sense.
I connected the electronic coin mech to the Ipac the way I'm supposed to do and at first sight it works fine, this means that if I enter a text program to test that the Ipac sends the correct key code for every coin I insert, everything works as expected, one coin, one key press, without fail.
Nonetheless, when I load CPS (1, 2 and 3) games and insert coins, the game doesn't take them, it seems that the keycodes are ignored, only a few of them are taken correctly, but without any patern I can deduce.
Other games, like puzzle bobble 2, show a MAME error, stating "coinlock 1 error disabled" or something like that, and the game stays in that status. I guess this is some kind of hardware protection and the MAME message corresponds to some kind of error code from the original board.
Now, I just don't get it, why is this happening if in the text program I'm geting the key codes correctly, without anything strange (at first sight).
Any idea of what can be happening?, other boards, like the neogeo games work perfectly well. Pressing the coin key, on the passthrough keyboard inserts coins perfectly well too.

you probably have the wires on the switch mixed up.
Make sure its connected to "NO" and "COM" not "NC" and "COM".

yes sir!!
They weren't cables, but a switch that was in the NC position. I had no idea of that switch.
Thank you so much! :notworthy:

HEY this was helpful thanks for the tip Thenasty!!
I've been running my cab for 2 YEARS with 10% or so of the games not wanting the coins ... I had to teach my kid how to manually flick the switch behind the coin door :( ... NOW IT ALL WORKS 100% wooow
(I know this is an old thread - but giving props where it's due :) )
