Title: Hacking a keyboard
Post by: RedSquirrel on June 11, 2003, 01:40:03 pm
Okay, thinking of ways to turn the PC off without opening the case and shutting down via keyboard.

I have one of these keyboards with a bunch of buttons on and one of them is a shut down button.

I could wire it from the keyboard to the cab side etc. However I dont really want a long wire going from the keyboard to the cab if i remove the keyboard and place it on my lap for example.

Or possible could i keep the keyboard in there (hack other buttons too if i want) and just use a USB keyboard as a normal one?

Would using the hacked keyboard along with a ipac work okay?

Or has anyone got other options? cheers

use mamewah...

you can shut down the PC from within the FE

or, just re-wire your computers power button to the front of yer cab (all modern PC's normally shut down then switch off when the power button is pressed)

 :P

ah yes the button would be easier. I did try mamewah but didnt think much of it (couldnt get  it to work right). Ill try again though sometime.

or wire your power button.  It's just a switch.  Oh wait, that depends on the mobo.  My roommates mobo will shut windows down then you press the power button.
