Title: Settings for maximum speed on Hard-to-run games
Post by: HeadRusch on June 11, 2003, 01:32:56 pm
Ok, I use MAME32......yes, its because I like the GUI and it works and requires zero configuration on my part...I intend to settle on one of the other front ends eventually......when they get to a point where they dont require so much time setting up, etc.

No, my front end is not quite that important to me...but I digress.

I started playing around with frameskip today..and I can get Crusin USA to run at a reasonable semblence of normal by setting the frameskip to 1 or 2.......

however, the audio is messed up...its like echos..choppy...not sure how to describe.

QUESTION 1: How to fix audio (Using SB Live, not onboard sound, and a Radeon 8500 card).

QUESTION 2: Why on EARTH does Crusin World run so much better than Cruisin USA?  Did I miss something??

However the same audio problems persist.......how to fix?

What type of processor and how much RAM is in the computers?

I'm somewhat new but I've heard that some newer games need a fairly good processor and a chunk of RAM to back it up.

Athlon 1700's...so 1.5Ghz or thereabouts....Radeon 8500, better than Geforce 3 quality video..half a gig of ram (as if there was any other choice!)....

Gotta try some of the other games, play with the settings......
