I've got a 20" PC monitor that is taking a long time to turn on. You plug it in and power it up, then wait about 5 minutes to get a picture.
If I turn it off, and then right back on, it seems to power up normally.
Also, after it's been on a long time, the picture slowly fades back off.
Any ideas on what causes this?
Is the tube going bad??

I would assume that it means it's broke, and since the tube displays the picture, it's probably the tube, but i dunno anything, just my assumption

I would assume it is either the tube or something in the power supply.

I had a monitor behave exactly like that at work. They took it into the shop, and it came back fixed for ~$100 IIRC. (not out of my pocket, so I didn't really note the amount at the time). IIRC, it was a cap problem, but again, it was not my personal monitor, so I didn't bring it in nor did I ask much about it.
Not much info, sorry.

That helps actually. This is a monitor at work they are getting ready to throw away. They just replaced it because of the mentioned behavior.
I've got a gate pass to take it home, but didn't know if it was worth my hassle.
Maybe it is...
