So who can we petition for a new run of vector monitors? We've had a lot of manufacturers cater to us... this would probably be a pretty expensive deal for a niche within a niche group of consumers... but maybe we could get someone to do it.
I've got a killer theme idea for a vector cab, but finding a monitor is impossible without desecrating some Asteroids cabinet. That, and maintenance is going to be an issue with a 25+ year old monitor. Is there a lot of interest on these forums for vector monitors?

I love my 25" Amplifone :)
And my LAI B/W 20" :)
Nothing beats a real vector.
The only real problem is getting the yokes wound. There's nothing special about the CRT (although these may become harder to get as well). I'd like to see the "chassis" to be based on the Amplifone. It's rock solid once rebuilt.
Anyway, the chassis can be produced relatively easy. The big problem is the yoke winding. I'm sure manufacturers in China can do it. (They're also re-producing the Amplifone HVT overthere) but the problem is the financial aspects. You never know how many will sell in the end. It will be a relatively low numbered serie and set-up costs for everything would be very high.
I know lots of people want vector monitors, but how many want them when they cost $600,- or more ?
I don't see it happening regretfully.

I would too, if it was more reliable than the 27" digital multi-sync raster monitors I'm trying to choose between for my first cab.

Perhaps someday, lazer projectors could be inexpensive enough
to use as a vector monitor.

Yeah, I've thought about that laser thing too. bit expensive to pull off. right now, and I think 14hz was the top speed for a model affordable by mere mortals.
And now with the flat screens having won the hearts of retailers, even tubes are going to be rarer.
I know that yoke is a complexity, but get some folks involved in MAKE: magazine or such to pose the challenge to their readers...

I know, 25 is the magic size.. um.. Star Wars? that's somewhat popular..
But I suppose an arcade monitor is the better start for such a thing. Eliminates a whole lot of circuits not needed..

ampliphone deflection board and a hand-wound yoke..
(yep, same guy who makes the Williams multi board using the original processor type)
So.. it is remotely possible.. convergence seems to be an issue, though.

find a company that rewinds motors.
they might be able to adapt a jig to rewind a yoke for the right $$
or if ur " adventurous " , take two identical yokes.
remove the h windings from one , and replace it with the vert windings from the other .
voila ! vectoring yoke
