Well i finally had time to take my monitor to get repaired. Took it to mike at amusment repair and he got it up at running. He tuned the monitor before i left with it and adjusted R/G/B, width/hight, ext. When i hooked it up, i had to up the contrast to get a picture on the screen. It looked good hooked up in his shop, but now i guess im going to have to adjust it myself to my system. Problem right now is i the images on the screen have pink shadows. looks like the red might be a little high but what about the shadows? If someone could help me with what adjustment to use i would be in your debt :applaud:.

Your contrast is too high.
If brightness is an issue, have you tried turning up the screen control a bit?

Yup contrast is up too much.

Its was the only way to get a picture as mike had turned up the brightness up all the way and when i took it home, all i could see when it was hooked up was a faint image, almost blackscreen. what should i adjust when i tune down the contrast to get the brightness up?

All arcade monitors expect a video signal level of 2.5 volts to 5 volts. Most computers only generate a video signal level of .7 volts which is too low. You should have a video amplifier connected to boost the signal level to the proper level for the arcade monitor.

This should somehow be pasted on everyone's eyeballs before they think about playing with monitors so you don't have to repeat it another thousand times.

The system was running a well gardner before just fine...the tube was cracked in a move. I purchased a new monitor from dave a patton vending as well as a new neckboard and chassis. Took it all to mike at amusment repair service and had him repace some caps and one small 4 pin IC. He tuned the monitor with whatever test he ran, looked like the one you see when the TV stations run the emergency brodcast tests. He checked all the voltages and they were fine, and i was on my way. . the system was running on an ArcadeVGA video card from ultimarc for about 3 months before cracking the tube. I dont think that the voltage comeing from the arcadeVGA is the problem since it ran the old tube and chassis just fine. the only difference is the monitor and chassis were a 25", this new tube and new chassis is a 27". I really dont think that the voltage is the problem since it worked fine for months before. If you still think so, what is the best way to check the output voltage on the card?

I know how to use a multimeter.. Im wondering if i can check connector with the system on and connected, or would i be fine to just disconnect the 9pin and check the socket with it running or would it damage my card? I still dont see how it could be a problem with low voltage from the card though.

Just meter the voltage on the pins on the monitor.

Checked all pins. Getting under 1v on red, blue, green, and getting 3.96 on H/V sync pins. I guess ill order up an amp and see if that helps. I still dont see why my old 25" ran and looked perfect, but this new 27" needs an amp. Anyone have some ideas? Its driveing me nuts, 2 inches makeing that big of a difference? Takeing my cab to a friends for his kids b-day party sure ended up costing me a ton. By the time i get an amp, ill be in for about $200 bucks on this new monitor.....last time this cab gets moved....

Your old monitor may have had one of the rare ".7 volt video input" options installed.
