So I have some friends over last night and they're playing TMNT (Oceania 2-player) in MAME .127 and suddenly during the second level the game just resets on them outta nowhere. (Goes to the ROM check, just like a reset)
I have no shifted keys that would've caused this, but it turned them off from getting too involved in any games from that point and they walked away from the cabinet.
Anyone had this happen before? Is this a bug?

Um. Whahhn. Maybe it's just me today, but that's pretty funny. Carry on.

Fail to see the humor, but alright, whatever...

is your Mame a modified version of Mame ? like fast Mame or EZ Mame?
some hacked versions of Mame have a reset in them that can be done with a few comb hits.
I would hate to have this happen to me also
weird that only the ROM reset and not Mame or PC :dunno
seems to me it has to be in Mame or the ROM.
Mame 99 is as high as I go.
have you played this game before or was this a first and your friends found a glitch for you.
I can not see this being a PC problem if only the ROM rest.
some how some one had to tell Mame to reset the ROM or a bug in that game seems the only choice to me

It's only a problem I've run into ONCE, so it might be a bug in MAME. I can't think of anything on my end that would cause such an issue. It's no big deal, considering it hasn't happened again.

What's funny is how easily daunted they were - like rednecks around a fire and it went out. I don't mean that condescendingly, it just seems an apt analogy.

I have an image of faces going blank, shoulders shrugging, and people walking away. It's funny, but not when it's your machine they drove an hour to play.
Still, it's funny how quickly they moved on to the next shiny object. ;D

Man, better hope they don't happen to read this. They may not come over anymore and break your machine.

If they did, they'd be more understanding. Luckily, these forums would be more boring to them than C-Span.
