Title: MaLa stand alone Video Player. For testing Videos to use on your layout.
Post by: loadman on August 28, 2008, 07:50:08 am
As you know MaLa currently will only play videos correctly if they are in a certain format.

It is fussy about the codec. The most common used is the Xvid Codec.      Divxx is a NO NO!

Most users never strike an issue but for those who do here is a Video Tester to validate them without the need to load MaLa and set in a layout so you can work out :
1) Does your codec work properly?
2) Is the video set compatible with MaLa?

This application uses the same video engine as mala so you should get the same results.

Bad videos have symptoms such as starting late and/or out of sync with audio or crashing when looped (which is what happens when played on a MaLa layout)

If it proves useful I will extend it's functionality.

Enjoy   ;)

havent tested this, but got the idea, it would been nice to auto play on the next file and log the previos one. If it crash on a contain video, you would propenty find what one it was.

I think this is not only for Mala but for others fe, jukebox as well (since they normally all use WMP and same codes), so you could call this something nice (Video Codec Tester or such).

Otherwice look a like a great tool and idea. You should eventuelly write which WMP version it actuelly use.

Crappy 'quick and dirty' souce added to first post.

You need VideoLab installed in Delphi first. The catch is I don't think you can install 3rd party components on the Free Turbo version of delphi.
