Title: Older console pads and USB

I don't know much about electronics.. I know I have seen usb converters for the new console pads such as N64, PSX, etc..  but I have only seen mainly parallel hookups for Nintendo or SNES pads..

Wouldn't it be nice to throw all the console pads onto a usb hub and use whichever you want? Is it possible to make converters for these older pads?

Not really a converter but you can hack them with some cheap USB game pads from MicroCenter ($2 or $4)... limited number of buttons though.

Solder wires from the D-Pads and buttons of the console controller. Then solder the other side of the wires to the encoder in the USB gamepad (throw away the shell, just need the PCB). There are similar instructions in the FAQ, look for sidewinder hacks.

there is no real need. The SNES pads are not that great and it could be better served hacked as an arcade controller. If just for nostagia in emulation, arcade would be better.

thanks.. yeah, basically nostalgia purposes.. I'd like to use the original controllers sometimes.. especially for RPG games and such.. I may mess around with it a bit..
