Title: Anyone know if this trackball is any good
Post by: Raleigh on June 10, 2003, 03:25:56 pm
They have a number of these 3" tracballs that include 3 buttons a face plate and are ready to connect to your computer via PS/2 port.  I am just starting to build my cabinet and this seems reasonably priced and I wouldn't have to worry about interfacing it with my computer since it will connect via PS/2 port.  But I don't want to buy something that feels/works poorly.  If anyone has bought one or knows anything about them or just wants to spew their opinion on them I would appreciate it.  Here is a link to one of them.   http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3029749797&category=187

The trackball itself is fine.  But you can find a refurbished Beston trackball for cheaper.  I am sorry, I am still searching for the link.  You could search this board for trackball or beston and you might find the thread.  It was discussed about a month ago.

I have the same one.  It works well but,  I got it for $30.00.  I think he raised his minimum bid.

I got mine from the same guy, it works great. You may be able to find one cheaper like mentioned above, or you may be able to hack something cheaper, but for the extra 20 bucks or so, it was sure nice to simply plug this thing directly in. I had a post on the buy/sell board looking for a cheaper one for my friend about two weeks ago and got zero responses so my guess is that the old refurbs may be scarce.

Thanks all.  I got the information I needed.  It sounds like from those who have gotten it, it is a decent trackball.  Sure it would be nice to get it for $30 dollars, but it is still quite a bit cheaper than the happs with interface.   I will do a little looking to find it for less, but since I am no longer a broke college student, the money isn't the biggest factor, getting the wifes approval is.  Thanks again.

I have that one too. I also got it for $30, but that was back when the guy wasn't shipping mounting plates with them.
