Title: Why is the PAC-MAN so High $$$ ?
Post by: BUCKETHEAD on August 24, 2008, 10:02:38 am
I own a PAC-MAN.

And it looks 1000 times better than this one!

Why so many bids?

And the price $$$$

Am i missing something here?   ???

Maybe i should let my PAC-MAN sit outside for a Day in the rain.

Let it rust up on the CP and Coin Door.

Maybe kick and scuff it to death.

So i can get that much $$$ outta it !  :laugh2:

There's probably a shill bidder involved. Notice how the bidding skyrockets from $1000 to $4500 between n**n and 8**8?

Theres gotta be a scam in the bidding some where. That just isn't right.

That pic of BUCKTHEAD's pac has to be the second most posted picture on this forum, right behind a certain picture a certain someone changed all their posts to a while back...  ;D

Ha. It just seems like every 2 or 3 threads, theres your Pac. Its a great looking machine and you have every right to show it off.

IIRC, Ms Pac PLUS was a rom swap for mazes. I don't know if it is the same as Ms Pac Attack, but I know a couple of the mazes are the same. If people on eBay are thinking its something super rare, I need to buy myself a ROM burner...

Yeah, looks like n**n and 8**8 are pranksters. Looks like this guy's auction is going to have to start over.
Does eBay have a 'I don't think those bids are legit' option? If not, they should.

For that money, it should say Puck-Man, autographed by Namco programmers,  and just for good measure, the roms from the infamous Time magazine photo. And the hoodie. ;D

Fat chance that will ever happen. Have you read this recent thread? (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83731.0)

Oh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---!

What's funny is, next weekend, I am going to pick up a Ms. Pac-Man from a guy who is just giving it to me.  If only he knew.

I'll admit I'll go after x item on eekbay if it's the best price, but it's too much a pita to sell anything. I think I did it once, and a couple of books for a friend.  I'd rather not make as much here than allow 4-8 people desperate for a part making #8 pay more than they should for something.  Ebay wants the #8 syndrome, more money for them. Payment hold? Um, I use the payment to pay for the postage, guys..

I will also admit I get a kick out of looking at $1200+shipping cabinets that are in worse shape than mine. Absolutely love this one:

"The price listed is for the game in working condition.  The game is currently not working, please allow 2 weeks for us to get the game in good working condition.  The monitor will have a good picture, all the sounds will working and the controls are working"

Dang, I need to do that.
"Asteroids Deluxe: game does not have working power supply,  side art, marquee,  vector monitor, game PCBs or controls. Please allow 2-6 weeks for us to get the game in working order."

The ebay is "teh scaryz"

I am usually shocked with what people will pay for stuff. but hey. since i am in a major metropolitan centre, i have a lot of choice

The auction ends tomorrow. Come on, guys! Any last minute bidders out there? :laugh2:

Great idea!  Then you could wait out the 21 day paypal hold while getting the game ready!  :laugh2:

If you look at it now, the winning bidder (with only 4 feedback) is no longer a registered bidder, and the other bidder only had 1 feedback. Smells like shill bidding to me  ;D

edit: That guy with the Pac-Man jacket is hilarious. He should be wearing yellow pants though, then he could blend right in to the machine if he was standing in front of it  (Pac-man  camouflage!) :laugh2:

I had to get a Computer Space in order to get that 'kill screen Pac Man T-shirt'  :D
I don't take the Computer Space seriously.
