Title: PSU giving off voltages(is this cap bulging?)
Post by: AE35 on August 23, 2008, 05:25:58 pm
Hey Guys!

I have a Hantarex US250(1989) that gives +26.8V on the +24V and +10.8V on the +12V.
The +5V is good.

Could I fix this, or would it be better to get an replacement!

Thanks,

Nicholas

i would expect you are not using the 24v so there is no load hence the high reading, the 12 is a little low and that could be a leaky cap on the output
beware those psu hold a lot of charge on the caps

Thanks grantspain! I'll be careful!

Here's a picture..the 400v cap looks somewhat ready to go I think! or
is it just me?

i reckon the 400v cap is o.k,thats the mains smoothing cap-usually if they go leaky you have start up problems
the most likely suspect will be direct on the 12v output line  and almost certainly will not look bad/bulging

So, what do you think...since I have no idea what's on the 12V rail should I just shotgun shift all the caps except the 400v?

Or try to find a new one?
