I have a Nintendo Vs. Dualsystem Table MDS-TBL-US (red tent) with two minitors, one working, one not. The non-working monitor squashes the entire display into a single vertical line. The working monitor has some trouble with the white and other bright colours sparkling. I am assuming this can be fixed with a caps kit. I am uncertain how to fix the non-working monitor though.
The sources I have seen so far say that Nintendo used Sanyo EZ20 in its machines. The frames of the monitors, and the manual I downloaded off the net for my machine, identify the monitor model as XM-1801 N. Because the two monitors are mounted back to back, it will be extremely difficult to locate any other markings without extracting one of the monitors from the cabinet.
:dunno
Does anyone have any further information about this model of monitor?
Does anyone know where I may find a proper caps kit for this model of monitor?
<<EDIT: I just ran across a post saying the XM-1801 N monitor was made by Sharp. Can anyone confirm this?>>

See Peale's reply # 61 in the Monitor FAQ for pictures of vertical and horizontal deflection failures.
Yes the red tents used Sharp XM-1801 monitors because they have an 18 inch tube instead of 20 inch. Both of your monitors should get capkits installed and cleanup all the dust/dirt in there too.

So my problem with the second monitor is a horizontal collapse.
Is there any more information?
Will a caps kit alleviate that problem, or is there something more to that?
Clean those things? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeewww!

Here's the service manual for the 2001 which is the same as an 1801 except for tube size:

Zanen Electronics in Texas has the capkits you need. Kit # 302 is what you want. Only $7.95 per kit. Telephone: (806) 829-2780 and they accept credit cards. Free shipping on orders over $25.
