Well, partially. Pretty much all wallpaper is bad. But that photo wallpaper is particularly ugly/tacky.

Post by: patrickl on August 22, 2008, 06:02:03 pm: Why would it be ugly by definiton? Sure that baby picture was awful, but that doesn't say the idea is ugly. I've seen big prints that looked really good. Not sure if custom printed wallpaper would look as good, but I don't see why not.

Even a modern TV would have only something like 30 DPI resolution to 50 DPI for a Full HD. That looks fine from normal viewing distance. With a 12MP camera and using the same DPI you could something like a 2x1.5m (7x5 ft) to 2.5 x 4m (8x12 ft) picture

Quite possibly. Visual illusions can really mess with people's sense of balance and ability to keep food in their stomach. If the image embedded in the floor was of a high quality, high resolution it probably would make some people incredibly ill.

Turning a wall into a giant photograph is even worse. That's why I don't like wallpaper. I don't care if it's 50 dpi, 300 dpi or 1000 dpi. And, aside from being ugly as sin, wallpaper has the added irritation of being extremely difficult to remove. It's like when people put up that horrific popcorn texture on the ceiling. It's extraordinarily ugly and extraordinarily difficult to fix.
