Title: *New Vendor* Cronin's Custom Arcades
Post by: MrScary on August 20, 2008, 08:14:07 pm
Hi all,
I just opened my webstore a few days ago selling custom arcade machines.  Please check it out and let me know what you think.  I know most of you here build your own, but its good to get feedback from the community.  Also, some of you may want to purchase the cabinet and build the rest.  At my store, you can do that and still pick a color for the cabinet...

Check it ...  http://www.ccarcades.com (http://www.ccarcades.com)   ;D

Thanks! :)

Now I am completely in the dark as bartop prices go, but $1700 seems a bit steep.  Just MO.  Good luck toyou though!  I think the design looks nice!

the price might sound expensive to people who know how to build cabinets, but i think for the regular guy out there it wouldn't be too hard to swallow.  that's a lot of functionality for a cabinet with such a small footprint, and that makes a difference.  i can see why some would consider $1499 the sweet spot though.

Why are you using the ArcadeVGA with an LCD PC monitor?

Your prices are a tad too steep. Like HarumaN said, "Good luck with that"

I understand, to the BYOAC community and DIY crowd, it may be high.  But to those who want a turn-key system, its fairly reasonable.  Besides, who else offers a full system in BarTop size?  My market are those who simply wish to buy one, ready to go. The D-I-Y crowd, maybe an empty cabinet...which will be priced similar to MameRoom bartops, but with better materials...

I have sold a number of these just by word of mouth alone.  All I'm saying is the price is what the market will bare....

Thanks for the feedback.

Here is one for $1995 and it comes with 3 games...and any color you want as long as its yellow.  I know someone with one of these.  Its nice, but 3 games?  This is what lead me to do this little venture...

http://www.brookstone.com/store/product.asp?product_code=582577&search_type=search&search_words=bartop&prodtemp=t2&cm_re=Result*R1C1*T (http://www.brookstone.com/store/product.asp?product_code=582577&search_type=search&search_words=bartop&prodtemp=t2&cm_re=Result*R1C1*T)

As a comparison, $1700 should seem a little better.

brookstone is not the best example. especially considering its going out of buisness.

http://www.lunacade.com would be a better example. plus thier systems are quite nice.

why are you charging 100 dollars extra just to upgrade to led buttons. well doesnt really matter. good luck with that.

Is Lunacade still out of business? I contacted them about their site not working and, if I recall correctly, I was told they'd had a fire and weren't taking orders. That was in January or February. I still can't get the order portion of their site to work to even see what their prices are (they told me they'd taken it down while they weren't taking orders).

They get expensive quick. $100 sounds about right.

I second Ginsu - why are you using an arcadeVGA? Absolutely no need. Especially to match your system, I'd suggest going with a newer standard card. Might cost you less, too. At your current price, I'm guessing anywhere from $300-500 profit, which is honorable.

...yea, right around there.  I will try a normal video card to see if there really is a difference, but the cards don't cost that much compared to what I would put in....worth more investigation...

Looks nice.  What color can you get it in?  Can you make the joystick any color?  LED buttons?  Can it be CUSTOM?  Competition is good to have and what I offer may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for about $500 less (new lowered price), we can customize one to your liking.

I would also suggest trying to put one of those on an actual bar.  Our bartops are 18" from front to back.  The ones from CA are 24".  So if someone is looking for one a little more compact, we can help...

See, its nice to have choices and competition is good for everyone....they seem to be doing well and I hope to have similar success.  Thanks!
