Title: HF framing nailers?
Post by: ChadTower on August 19, 2008, 10:48:38 am

Anyone here ever use an HF framing nailer?  Usable or crap?  I want to do the rest of the framing in my basement soon but I'll be damned if I'm going to do any more framing with a hammer.  Takes too long that way.

Framing nailers are a godsend.  Don't know a thing about the HF, both of mine are Paslode.  Worth every penny.  Either way, get a clipped head gun.  The nails are easier to find and have more nails per strip.

Hmm...  ChadTower and a Chadwick, both posting in the same thread.

Coincidence?  I think not!

I have  a HF brad nailer/stapler that works good. I don't think it would hold up to contractor grade use, but for a DIY'er, it will be more than serviceable.

The framing nailer I have my eye on is about 10% off right now... I bet if I hang on a bit longer I can get a coupon, though.

Do you have an entertainment book for your area? HF always has several really good coupons in my book.

My wife used to buy them but stopped for some reason.  I'm guessing it's because we go out less often than she was buying the book.   :laugh2:

I'm sure hf has a 2pk or 3pk.  You'll want the framing gun and a finish nailer.  Save yourself a little bit o cash and buy the set.  As Shardian said I think you'll be fine, I wouldn't try to build a mansion with one though.

I have the HF contractor series nailer.  Not clipped head though.  It works well on a really crappy compressor.  I paid $70 for it and it went on sale for $54 this week...

I would return and rebuy but I lost the reciept.  Oh well.  It's the 10 degree one I think.  For framing a basement, I'd recommend it.  I got it to frame a bedroom and bathroom.

As others have stated HF tools are great for the DIY'er. Sign up for their email newsletter and get coupons like these  http://www.harborfreightusa.com/html/emails/34/RetailC/Images/coupon.jpg (http://www.harborfreightusa.com/html/emails/34/RetailC/Images/coupon.jpg)

Hrm... I am supposedly on their email list but I barely ever get anything.  And I definitely didn't get that one.

6 in 1 framing nailer on sale for $100... just got one and used the $15 coupon above.  Thanks mj147.     The coupon ended up being a free 50' air hose to go with it.   :)
