Title: Advantages of 3" trackball over 2.25"
Post by: Diewrecked on August 18, 2008, 09:43:38 am
Apologies if this has already been answered.

How many games used a 3" trackball over a 2.25" one? I've got a 3" Happ but where there is such little room on my CP I'm thinking of trading down to a 2.25" if there's not going to be much difference in use. Does anyone know which games used what? Would I be better off keeping the one I have?

TIA you guys.

 :)

Games that require you to spin the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of the ball (Golden Tee, bowling) use 3". Games that use the trackball as a controlled directional input device (centipede) use a 2.25". However, a 3" can always replace a 2.25" (see crystal castles). A 2.25" sucks as a replacement for a game that needs a 3" because it does not have the same spin momentum.

Wicked thanks Shardian, exactly the info I was after. Golden Tee is a biggie for me so I may even sacrifice a button or two to accommodate the 3".

Cheers buddy.

Make sure you have enough room for the follow-through.  You don't want your drunk friends slamming their hands into the monitor glass.
