hi, when i try run donkeykong, burgertime, commando ect, anything with a overlay,
all i get is the picture and no game,
ive tryed the game its self and i works, the only way i get it to work is to renane artwork folder so it doesnt show the overlay picture, do i sort this?
also is there a vertical layout picture that will show the arcade machine and game video/picture?
-
doesnt matter about the overlay, found out it doesnt work in newer versions of mame so i switched beziel off. and now the roms display ok.
i am still after a good vertical layout and also looking for a xp vertical bootscreen.and a way to bypass the rom info at rom startup or a modded version of mame.
also how do i switch off hardware streatch and insert scanlines? cant see it in mame.ini

I think many of the available layouts can be horizontal or vertical. My vertical layout is kind of specialized (centipede theme since my cab is centipede with art in good condition) so I've never uploaded it to the layouts page, but one of these days I should. For boot screen and windows background, I used the centipede flyer.
Probably doesn't help you directly, but maybe it will help you think of ideas.
As for stretch/scanlines, you could put mameui into your mame directory and use it to configure your mame settings. That's what I do. MaLa can configure your mame settings but obviously it doesn't necessarily keep up with recent changes, so I just trust mameui more since there is a mameui release for every mame release.

ok got mameui and it gives better picture i think, but cant see any part in the ini to change the game info to off so i cant see the rom start up uinfo/disclaimer.
tryed the mamewah to mala convertor software on the mala site, it changed the layout file but when i loaded the layout in mala it showed font but no picture

If you are using mala, you can edit the stretching and scanlines in the config.
Check Mr Do's site for updated artwork, I think they changed the format at some point, so you probably just need the newer version.
