Title: Either of these a good buy? eBay Trackballs
Post by: cmoses on August 14, 2008, 08:09:21 am
Are either of these two trackballs a good buy?  How easy is it to convert them to work with MAME?

Assuming all wires are present and you know the pin-outs of each ball (think about ease of interfacing), then that seems like decent value if you are on a budget. However, I like some of the newer solutions and I can't recommend Ultimarc's U-trak enough.

Both are a good deal and the seller is our very own menace, trackball refurbisher extraordinaire and all-around good egg.

I can only speak for the Happ trackball as this is all I've used, but I don't think you can go wrong for that kind of money. The harness is complete in the picture and he states that it's in perfect working order.

Plus with CheffoJeffo's character backup, you should be able to trust him as a seller.

I'm looking at possibly ordering one of those Betsons and an Opti-wiz.

Why did you have to show me those auctions?!? More money in the cab....

He's sold a bunch of these on here and is a good guy in the analog world (he fixed a monitor on a BattleShark cab that I bought from his brother ... no charge).

I have no problem vouching for him, so long as he remembers to call me if that potential warehouse raid ever materializes!

I have a couple trackballs from him, too. The bearings need some work, but they were clean units..
