Title: MAME game crashes, now Mala doesn't work
Post by: RoboG2 on August 11, 2008, 04:17:01 pm
After getting Mala set up, I had no problems.  After launching a specific game, which worked fine for a minute then froze, caused the screen to flicker for about a minute, then allowed me to quit from it, no MAME games will launch from MaLa (though other emulators work fine).  Also, MaLa is now moving slowly (scrolling through gamelists is now very slow, and the screen flickers when changing menus).  This behavior persists even after multiple restarts.  If it matters, the game was Puzzle Club, which I ran for the first time.  Any ideas?

Virus?

Video Card Problem?

It could be a number of things but it does not sound that MaLa is the cause. I would search wider.

Are there any other symptoms that someone may recognise?

Have you tried a fresh install of mame? Maybe it's a bad cfg or ini file. Just the other day I discovered that I lost all my default key mappings and I have no idea why.

If you are running xp64, try deleting malakeyhook.dll. I couldn't get mame to run right with that there. I don't know if it will help your problem, but it might.

Okay, this is weird.  I was going to replace MaLa today, but had a hard time booting up the computer (it would just hang on the boot screen).  I turned it on a nd off a bunch of times, and finally it booted up.  Now there are no problems, and I didn't have to do anything but turn on the computer.  It couldn't have been a virus; this computer has never been connected to the internet, and has only seen files that have been scanned on another computer.  So thanks for all the replies, but it looks like it fixed itself!?!  :dizzy:
