I went to two local TV repair shops and both of them said it was possible to add a manual degauss button to my Hantarex Polo/3 monitor, but none of them said they would do it. Apparently its the law that they can't fiddle with the electronics of an existing monitor because of potential fire hazards etc... :(
The problem with the Polo is that it doesn't degauss upon switching off/on, which means (as I have a rotating monitor setup) I have to either turn off for a few minutes (it degausses on a cold start) or use the degaussing wand I bought (which is a pain, and doesn't work that great).
So does anyone know someone willing to do this? Or can/wouldn't mind doing this themselves? Willing to pay, of course! :)
Cheers
Edit: I'm in Kent, btw, so the closer the better!

you need to do this correctly as you will burn out the degauss coil if its done wrong
options for you are to send to hantarex in sydenham hill, london or use a chap i know called craig walker(www.giz10p.co.uk)
you would need to remove the chassis

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I contacted Hantarex, but they gave me the same answer of "no, we won't do it as its a health and safety risk" :(
Thanks for the heads up about gis10p.co.uk, I'll give him a call. I'm a bit more concerned about the H+S issue now, so I'll see what he says. Hantarex actually said they wouldn't even modify the monitor so the degauss happened when the monitor is switched off and on (as opposed to only on cold starts).
I do have a degaussing coil, which is OK, but it never seems to get rid of all the discolouration, there always seems to be a large patch that doesn't resolve in the bottom left corner of the screen.
My only other option, which I don't really want to do, is to swap the Hantarex Polo/3 with a digital arcade monitor that has a manual degauss button that I can tap into. My only problem is that here in the UK I've not been able to find a good digital 21" arcade monitor. Multisync would be preferable, but not essential. Does anyone know anywhere that can supply a 21" one of these to the UK?

you have two hopes for a new tri sync in the u.k,bob hope and no xxxxxxxx hope.
hantarex have stopped crt production as have pentranic, that leaves no european crt peeps apart from kaga, who do not deal with one off's
don't worry about the health and safety thing, thats just crap european standards
your only other option is to import from the far east
