I am trying to compile mame with hiscore_.diff . I have tried three different times now using both Headkaze's compiler as well as the longer easy method from Mr Dos page. Every time I try (I have tried with mame .123 as well as the .126u-current series), the compiling does not end. It patches the .diff files fine but it hangs on the main compile and never finishes. I have tried to let it go overnight and still nothing. From what I understand it should be taking les than 30 minutes. Has anyone else had a similar problem or maybe can tell right away what I may be doing wrong?
I am using vista 32 and am running under administrator and I belive I have read the directions over and over again to do it correctly. This is a pic of my current run. It has been going for about and hour at this point.
Any suggestion or mockery (sarcastic or otherwise) couldn't hurt at this point.

I complied mameui126 a couple of weeks ago using headkaze's 64 complier. Mine took roughly about an hour but not all night. Make sure you are using the correct versions of mame with the diff's. That seems to be a lot of the problems that happen. I was having a lot of trouble and headkaze helped me out using his complier. Try posting over in his main topic with your problem.

thanks for the info stud.
I did finally get it to finish compiling fully after two days and seven or eight aborted attempts. I dont know why it worked this time since my syntax and direction following abilities were exactly as before. I did have to eventually do it under XP instead of vista and when I got an error the last time about not being able to make a certain folder almost right away, I stopped the compile, clicked on clean compile and did it again- the second time there was no error and it finished the compile. Took about 26 minutes with a 4200+ x2 using Headkaze's compiler.
