Hi all,
I have decided to install some illuminated buttons on my MAME cab.
I like the look of Ultralux buttons, but I am concerned that the feel would not be that of a "normal" arcade button (concave).
Any suggestions as to which is better? I do like the fact that I can put in inserts on the Ultralux buttons.

Just installed the ICE buttons on my mame cabinet last weekend. I love'em. If you are going illuminated, you might want to thing about using the ICE buttons with the RGB boards.. the ability to have them be different colors based on the game is pretty hot! I'd also look at the NovaGems from Groovy Game , although i do not have any.

I have the LED-Wiz+GP™ 16-port from GroovyGameGear. It looks like those would work, no?
I saw the ICE buttons on GGG, but which LEDs would I need?

With the ICE buttons you're best off using the RGB Drives from GGG.

You can read this post about them here.

That settles it... I am half way there since I already have the LED-Wiz.
Thank you all! :notworthy:

I had this dilema. The Happ translucents are prob one of the nicer ones as well. You can get inserts for these too from GGG and can get the diffusers from GGG also as they halp spread the light better. You have to mod the buttons a bit but that is what I went for!
Just my opinion.

Can you post pics of what yours look like? what did you have to mod?

I haven't done it yet, although this is the path I have taken.
The best place to read about it, and where I found out about it, is here at the bottom of the page:

Franco drilled a hole in the base of the buttons in order to put the led in place. If you have a look through his thread you will also see how he programmed the led wiz (from GroovyGameGear) to run a sequence using an app called ledblinky.
I am sure you will agree it kicks some serious ass!
But don't forget to get those diffusers for the buttons, they will help disperse the light! across the whole top of the button!!
You can read about my dilemma here, I recommend you do!

I just made the plunge myself. I went with translucent buttons, diffusers and rgb. Can't wait to wire that mess ;D :applaud:

Boy,
You guys have just complicated everything. >:D
I was ready to make the plunge and go for the ICE buttons. I like the fact that they are "Plug-n-Play" (or is that Plug-n-pray? :)).
Anyone used the HAPP with diffuser and the ICE side by side with the RGB Drive? I would really love to see that.
