hey guys this is the cp ive been working on for my arcade. what do you think? it needs some minor refinements perhaps some neon arrows around the joysticks? and neone circle around the start buttons. anmd a few admin buttons at the top as well
UPDATE!!!
finally finished my CP , heres the final product!
and as some people have asked me now that im done i uploaded the full AI files with layers and stuff to yousendit for anybody that wants it. the megaman and zelda are vectorized but the spiderman and wolverine are high quality scans that i traced the background out myself in photoshop with only the basic eraser (many many many hours of work) and they are in very high quality (600dpi for wolverine and i think 800dpi for spiderman)
heres the youseind it link below, its only a trial registration so the file will only be there for 14 days starting today. Tuesday OCT 14, 2008 So get it while its hot!!!

I like the color buttons that match with the characters it's cool, would like to see pics once its installed on the cab, I'm guessing the trackball is going to be silver ?

nope its gonna be blue transclucent. not sure if they even make them in silver, but yeah i know the left is blue as well

thanks!! took me awhile cause ive never used illustrator before. all of those characters took awhile to get in high rez too, first 3 are vector and the wolverine was scanned from a poster i had at 600 dpi :)

How many games have 6 buttons for player 3 and 4? Thought 4 buttons was max for them.

I dont quite see the theme though; link wasn't in any arcade games and though MegaMan was in MvC2, silver surfer wasnt. I like the layout in general (cept wolverine's leg) but if your gonna go with a marvel theme you could replace blue with pretty much any one and maybe the Hulk in the green?

yeah im gonna be loading nearly everything, mame, all cosole emulators, daphne, maybe even the virtual pinball stuff. i debated the 4 buttons for 3 and 4 players but aesthetically it looks nicer with all 6 , plus ill be using it for some console emulators until i get some usb to controller adaptors for some of the more popular systems like new,snes,n64, sega genesis etc.
also i was originally considering an all marvel panel but since im throwing in many different systems i chose the characters that i liked. big on zelda, and megaman, spiderman and wolverine, also really like silver surfer, also that silver surfer pic worked out brilliantly cause as u see his right hand (on the left side) kind of surrounds the trackball like he is holding it there.
their head sizes are all roughly around the same size.
oh yeah and the wolverine leg will be cut off but i dont mind, because if i shrank wolverine to fit fully into the screen his size would not match the other characters. plus, we all know its all about the claws and not the feet for wolverine hheh :P
i want to add some arrows or directions around the joysticks but havent found any good styles that would not be too fancy. any ideas?? they would be neon style like the rest but its the shape of them im looking for. if u ahve any good ideas post the link to a sample?

I really like it but if it's going to be a play all arcade cab I think you need to mix the characters up a bit, there are too many comic book characters.

You have a white feathered halo around each section, I wonder if inverting that halo to black would look better to provide more separation? Not sure about the silver art for the trackball section - again maybe darker would look better for an illuminated trackball...?
But very cool design, look forward to seeing the completion!

This is sweet... I am doing the same thing, but I haven't decided in what characters to use in each area. I was actually thinking of doing an NFL theme and doing each area for a different team and the trackball in a football.
Not sure if you ever saw the original design that was like this without a trackball and used old school characters... This is a MAJOR improvement on that design.

yeah i think i still have it around here somewhere, but i think ill just keep the high rez version, i heard as long as its over 300dpi it should be good, since its at 600, it should still looks amazing ont he printout. and vectorizing would remove some of the details, but thanks for the assistance
actually i have a higher quality spiderman picture that i need vectorized for the spidey pic, the one i ahve vectorized doesnt look to good in full size, pm me if u can help :D

If wolverine is going to lose his foot then I think you would need to bring spider mans hand and foot to the background and keep them in their own space.

Link seems a little thematically inappropriate (The Hulk would have been better) but that's my only complaint. Great work!

Dude, new to the forum, but spending months on my cabinet design. Your CP is wicked sweet. For lots of reasons, I'm having to go with something much more generic.

hey I really like your control panel overlay....I was looking at it and I would like to use it for myself but your link has been long expired....I was wondering if you could put it in a more permanent solution. I would suggest uploading your work to localarcade.com or deviantart.com or just re put it up on http://www.megaupload.com/ it would be useful for the community to have such a great work....thanks.....

the button boxes need transparent background color. everything else looks great.
