When installing new (or old I guess) joysticks here is a little tip:
Make sure that little cone shaped washer/spacer that goes on the top of the black box (you know the ones the switches screw to) is oriented the correct way. The skinny side goes up, the fat side goes down.
I messed this up and my joysticks sucked! The joystick would slide and catch, then would stay activated. At first I thought Haap supers were junk or something. Once you pushed a direction it just kept going. Sort of amusing on fighting games haha. So anyways, if you ever experience this, check that little cone washer! I flipped it so it was correctly assembled and they work great!
My old sticks wouldn't even hit diagonals correctly. Don't know what was wrong with them, but they would only hit about 1 out of every 5 tries. Makes a ton of difference!

This is funny because I just pulled apart a couple of sticks and it has been a while since I'd done that, and at first I put that piece in wrong when reassembling them and the stick action was all messed up -- then I remembered, oh yeah that little cone shaped thingy goes in the other way! Common mistake... but the noob part is not fixing it instantly :)
