Anyone see a possible HIRING CENTER to TEMPEST conversion here ?   :laugh2:

I tried VERY hard to get my dad to grab one of those for a mame conversion when he left the company a year ago. I figured we would be doing a service to any poor sap who gets suckered into applying, but he had no way to get it home in his little car...

Tempest sit-down. Rad.

Mauzy, you should've asked a friend who had a truck, or at least a wagon. I know that'd easily fit in my Toyota wagon.

Thats funny! The Target by me has more upright white kiosks that look like little Candy cabs. They also have a small trackball built into the panel.

Yeah, but then we would have to explain to the cops why we were trying to walk out with a hiring center.... ;D

Just say you wanted to take the application home to fill it out.  :dunno  ;D

I thought maybe you were implying he had some way to appropriate it such that they wouldn't miss it.

Yeah, my work takes me to varied places, and I changed out some copy center card dispensing kiosks, and the old stuff either goes to a refurb place or a recycler. I so wanted one of those one-piece LCD/PC combos.. but I like to keep my job, and (fortunately) it wouldn't fit in the car anyway.

I changed components out on over 50 of these things last year, sometimes crawling into them.. but thanks to their poor coin slot design, I always had change for the soda machine :D And before nuking the HD, I sometimes would have a little fun.. Underneath all that, it's just a Windows machine. Just testing the flash player, was my backup excuse if anyone noticed..

Never dared run MAME on it though,  people always recognize a video game. Too bad, missile command would have been neat on a touchscreen.

Point-of-sale equipment is what you need to look for if you're ever needing a tiny vga/svga monitor.. there's lots of resellers out there.

I would go grocery shopping much more often if I could watch Futurama while waiting at the check outs...

A local pizzeria has these computers for taking orders that would work well for a bartop.  They are pcs with the monitor integrated into them (no not a laptop).  They look like a crt but have the mouse, keyboard, and a parallel port in the back.  It seems like it would be easier to use than hacking a laptop.

Unless money is being made recycling them why couldn't you get one?

This kind of thing was starting to happen, but seems will be superceded by the market providing more individual devices - more cell phones, etc - which is good, because then people can use ear pieces/headphones or turn the audio down all together, as well as there not being this big hovering thing demanding my attention.
