Title: Enabling mouse in mame
Post by: heinekenlvr on August 04, 2008, 11:06:38 am
Hi All,
I need help enabling my mouse in mame v.100. First, I tried to create a mame.ini file but it didn't work. I went to 'run' and typed mame -createconfig. I looked in the mame directory and I still don't see the mame.ini file. Second, I assume that once I create the ini file, I need to turn the mouse on? I really could use your help as this is quite frustrating. Thanks.

Ok so after a little fiddling I created a mame.ini file. I changed the mouse settings from 0 to 1 and saved the changes. I reloaded Atomic and loaded Pole Position 2. Aha, partial success. The mouse keys work fine but I have no left or right movement (I also tried moving the mouse up and down without success). I hit TAB to try and change the game settings but the mouse is not one of the options to move left or right. I currently have a OPTIPAC running a steering wheel (which runs fine outside of mame). Here is a copy of my controller settings:

### Input device options ###
mouse                   1
joystick                0
lightgun                0
dual_lightgun           0
offscreen_reload        0
steadykey               0
keyboard_leds           1
led_mode                ps/2
a2d_deadzone            0.300000
# ctrlr                 <NULL> (not set)
paddle_device           keyboard
adstick_device          keyboard
pedal_device            keyboard
dial_device             keyboard
trackball_device        keyboard
lightgun_device         keyboard
digital                 none

Thanks for the help.

Maybe try changing 'paddle_device' and 'dial_device' to 'mouse'.

Maybe try changing 'paddle_device' and 'dial_device' to 'mouse'.

Nah, that does the same thing.  (differences not important for this thread, unless anyone's curious.)

OP, I'd make sure -multimouse is still disabled (0).  If that doesn't help, try remapping: tab, "Input (this game)", scroll down to "dial analog", press enter, spin wheel, wait and see if it's mapped.  (If not, try different spin speeds.)  IIRC, you said the wheel works in windows, or am I confusing with a different person?
