Title: Cab friendly console emulators
Post by: bent98 on August 02, 2008, 09:30:17 am
Can anyone tell me what NES,SNES,SEGA, Atari emulators I can use for my cabinet via Mala FE. My exit is mapped to ESC and I need something that will allow my cabinet and FE to function as Mame does.

I have snes and atari emulators on my cab, besides zinc and mame of course.
For Atari I have z26 and for Snes I don't remeber if it is znes or snes9x, I remember I had issues with one of them, but the other is ok, download here: http://www.romnation.net/srv/emulators/snes.html (http://www.romnation.net/srv/emulators/snes.html)

cheers

You can force any emulator to exit via the Esc key by using the Hot Key functionality in MaLa.  In fact, if all you want it to exit, just check the box "Exit Hook" on the "Other Emu" configuration screen and that will do the trick.
For NES, I'm using Nestopia which is highly regarded as one of the most accurate.  It happens to support very flexible key remapping.
For SNES, I use ZSNES, also very flexible.  If you add the parameter -m to the command line, then it by passess the built-in GUI and will exit by pressing Esc.
For 2600, Stella is at the top with MESS and is highly configurable as well.
I don't use a Sega Genesis or Master System emulator but I hear Kega Fusion is one of the best.

Can you paste you mala config for those emu's.

Also do you know how to config Mala to launch PC games from a list?

I tried that version of snes. Esc doesnt exit emulator.

zsnes will exit by hitting the escape button.  You need to edit the cfg file and set the NO GUI or GUI OFF=1 or something like that.  I reccomend this one.   Nestopia or FCE for nes works great.

Fusion works well for sega genesis.
