I know it's dumb, but the It's hard to tell in all the pictures I've seen do all these buttons have have the same convex top? It doesn't appear so, but I can't tell. What I want is convex buttons that are translucent.
-
Out of those 3 the only convex button is the Happ Competition...and it isn't translucent.
-
so the the tops are hollow right? Man that sucks I was hoping someone made a then with a convex top.
-
Agreed. I only use convex for my main buttons and I'd love for them to be translucent.

I only use them because they help me beat down tools faster in fighters, which means there is less time I have to suffer through said morons using words like "playa". :o
I like concave for older games because that is what I grew up with, but on certain fighters there is a marked improvement in pulling off certain moves consistently using convex.
-
Isn't the ultralux from Ultimarc convex?

Fighters suck. They definitely signaled the end of the arcades. Boring!
Noobs...

::) No need to get pissy and attack someone simply because they have a different view than you. I'm merely explaining why one would prefer convex buttons. Just because you don't understand one of the most complex, highly competitive and elegant types of games to ever hit the arcade doesn't give you the right to just dismiss the genre or be rude. Fighters had nothing to do with the end of the arcades in the US. In fact anyone who played fighters competitively will tell you that it was the fighters and a few pinball machines that kept the arcades going through the late 90's into the new millenium. If it were not for fighters you would have seen arcades fizzle earlier.
Noob? Based on your maturity level, grand assumption and vocabulary; it is clear I was dropping quarters into Tempest, Major Havoc and Berzerk cabinets before your father produced the necessary gamete to make you. I love fighters, but I also equally love classics. In fact when I play solo, I'm usually playing a classic. Concave buttons are great in that they simulate the days of old, but for me, I can play a classic with a concave just as well as a convex...no difference. With a fighter I have an advantage with convex, so that style gets used.
The bottom line is that we all love arcades for different reasons. There is nothing to be gained from personal attacks on someone with a different view. You took a thread that had legitimate questions, came in and just made jabs at people with different hardware needs and trolled. Why?

mistyped CONCAVE and meant CONCAVE? Now I'm really confused.
Concave: the button is lower in the middle than the edges. Lots of clear/translucent options. These are the style you find on many North American games.
Convex: the button is higher in the middle than the edges. No solid clear/translucent options that I know of. These are used in some North American fighters, US Neo-Geo cabs and most Asian cabs (candy cabs).

So you're looking for this?
These are Happ Translucent pushbuttons with a horizontal switch. Why I can't find them on Happ's site, I have no idea.
Lizard Lick (http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/pushbuttons.shtml)sells them for $2.95.
I got mine from Divemaster (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=47066.0) who sells them for $2.75
Pony Boy (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=36770.0)has them for $2.00. (iL HORIZONTAL TRANSLUCENT PUSHBUTTONS)
You should also check out GGG's Electric Ice (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=238) or NovaGem (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=281) buttons.
Here's a thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82633.0) discussing lighting buttons.

His punctuation should've been better. What he was saying was:
I'm an idiot. I mistyped before. Concave! I meant Concave!
(note the missing period)

I currently have concave buttons. All the pictures for novagems and translucent buttons make it look like there are two separate rings making up the button and that they're not necessarily concave in shape. I'm guessing that they are concave and it's just the fact that they're translucent that makes them look this way. When I asked the question, I just named the wrong button, which started this whole mess :dunno
I got my answer. Thanks.

Glad you figured it all out. :applaud:

punctuation makes a world of difference;
I helped my uncle Jack off a horse.
I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse.

Glad they didn't use this example when I was in school. I probably would've peed myself and fell in the floor laughing.
