Title: potential SF2 purchase: monitor problem?
Post by: TheShanMan on July 30, 2008, 10:31:58 am
I found out about a Street Fighter 2 being sold locally, asking $150, but with a monitor problem. I don't have a lot of detail yet on condition of the rest of the machine. Any ideas on what it takes to fix this problem?

I'm thinking of offering $75 (depending on condition). Not sure if I'd want to leave it dedicated or convert it. I haven't played much SF - haven't made much attempt to get into that genre yet. If I convert, I'd leave the possibility of converting back. It would be nice though to have a cab with a horizontal monitor, as the cab I now have is vertical. Also not sure if I'd leave the CP alone or, probably more likely, convert it to a swappable panel system that could share the panels from my current cab.

Any thoughts on value? Is this a steal? Or are these worth next to nothing?

If they'll take $75 or even $100, do it.

Thanks HarumaN - I'm considering it!

In addition to my questions about value and what the monitor problem might be, does anyone know what edition of SF2 this would be? I looked at all the editions on klov and none of them look like this, particularly the CP.

those red lines are not a monitor problem, thats to do with the game board
maybe a low +5 volts/bad connection or bad eprom-or at worst a bootleg

Any thoughts on how expensive those problems would be to fix, or how difficult? This would be my first foray into arcade repair, so any advice (including advice to avoid it!) is welcome.

Thanks!

its probably only a bad eprom seating or a low +5v,thats costs nothing
anyway you can always get a game board off ebay for as few $

Well thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from the seller and I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow evening so I don't think it's gonna happen.
