Title: Control Panel Layout Software
Post by: cmoses on July 21, 2008, 07:26:45 am
I have searched the forums as well as Google and have come up with a few options for doing control panel layout.  Ultrimarc's software and Mameroom's as well as some templates for Visio.  I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything.  It seems like the layouts that I see in the project area are more involved than what these products offer, so maybe I just haven't gotten in depth enough on these products or maybe I missed something.

Are there any templates for the Groovy Game Gear products for Visio?  I will probably be using their buttons, trackball and spinners, but  U360 joysticks.

Very nice chap at Mameroom gave me the direct link for their CP layout software which seems to be ideal:

http://www.mameroom.com/files/cpd_setup.zip

It uses perfect footprint templates for most of the current crop of controllers. Bear in mind that the TT2 spinner is just a button as far as the design is concerned.

Far less complicated and far more intuitive than the other offerings I've tried.

I don't think you missed anything. Visio is the most flexible. You really don't need any special templates for GGG controls - the generic control template should work fine for placement. Just make sure you have enough clearance for the trackball base and/or mounting plate.
