You're using an AVGA with a TV? Maybe that has something to do with it.

other folk have used this setup, so it does work, well they says it does.some games look ok like twin cobra and raiden fighters 2, its just windows desktop is flickering and some games.
what res is avga ment to put windows into?
btw the tv is a uk scart one using a rgb mame scart

Standard Resolution CRT TV's can only do 640x480 or 800x600 interlaced(can look crappy) The ATI drivers are detecting you are using a t.v. and working appropriately. ArcadeVGA was intended to use with real arcade monitors. And could give you a sleuth of low resolutions for arcade games. I have one with a Tri-Sync Wells Gardner that works well, other than I have a hard time finding a perfect resolution for a lot of arcade games. Robotron was really tricky, and all my fighting games cps1/cps2/cps3, wanted to display in widescreen (bars on top and bottom).

OK sorry, I thought you were using composite or S-Video as a connection. You should be fine using that TV with SCART. Have you considered rotating the TV 90 degrees since you are planning on only using vertical games? Which drivers did you install? Hopefully the older AVGA ones, and not the AVGA2 ones. You may want to contact Andy at ultimarc about the missing low resolutions.

Not true. He's using a European TV which has the same RGB capability as an arcade monitor via the SCART port. Crappy USA TVs do not have that useful port, even though the tube inside is perfectly capable of pure arcade resolutions.

G: look up the SCART thread for help.

i did look it up, its just to do with scart cables not avga so pointless
