Title: Why do some of my roms not show up in mame?

I've recently noticed that there are quite a few roms that I put in the roms directory and are a .zip file that are now showing up in my list. I have refreshed the list over and over, but they are still gone.

Does this mean that I am doing something wrong or the rom is bad or that rom doesn't work with mame?

Are they the wrong versions for your MAME? Are they working in MAME? Check MAWS (http://www.mameworld.com/maws).
