Post by: squirrellydw on July 14, 2008, 05:34:59 pm
Someone aksed me this about there game and the monitor, anyone have any ideas......

It worked fine, then all of a sudden the screen doesnt wanna come on right. It fires up and all, and you can hear it playing, but no picture. There is a line right down the middle of the screen and you can just barely see the pic. Any idea what it may be?

Either horizontal or vertical collapse. (depending on monitor orientation)
Could be caps, could be an IC.

Need to know the MAKE and MODEL of monitor to help any further.

It's usually the IC that goes bad to cause the vertical collapse.  But there is usually a reason that the IC went bad which, most of the time, ends up being capacitors.  Loss of horizontal deflection is unusual in most monitors as many monitors will lose their high voltage if their horizontal circuits shut down.  A D9200 is one exception to this rule.

I'm sure it could be repaired but, like Kevin said, make and model of monitor is needed to give any further suggestions.
